1/ Meta solving the 6-finger AI problem with new AI model
The 6-finger problem. The horrific reality of AI-generated images.
Well, it looks like Meta is releasing a new model to help solve this issue.
Here’s the skinny:
[The News] On Tuesday, Meta announced that it will be releasing a new image AI model that’s able to complete unfinished images better than existing models.
How does it work?
[The AI] The model is called I-JEPA and uses background knowledge about the world to fill in missing pieces of images rather than looking only at nearby pixels like other generative AI models, the company said.
Described as “human-like”, the AI model uses an approach to “reason”, thus avoiding errors like missing ears or knotted arms.
[Why this matters] Meta is giving researchers access to components of the AI model, sticking with his belief in open-sourcing AI.
Why?
To better improve AI technology and create the best industry standards.
2/ No buyers? AMD releases new AI chip anyway
AMD’s new MI300X is here, but can it compete against the all-mighty Nvidia?
🤔🤔🤔
[The News] AMD announced its plan to release a new 192-gigabyte AI chip by the end of this year.
But the big question that many analysts were left wondering?
Who the heck is buying this chip?
Kevin Krewell, a principal analyst at TIRIAS Research, said," I think the lack of a (large customer) saying they will use the MI300 A or X may have disappointed the Street. They want AMD to say they have replaced Nvidia in some design.”
I.E. Disappointment across the board
Looking forward… The proof is in the pudding. And until AMD signs a large, tech company to prove to the world its chip is comparable and able to compete with Nvidia…
It doesn’t look like there is much to say about the MI300X chip, other than the fact that it has more memory.
Let the games begin.

3/ AI recreates John Lennon’s voice, new track to be released
[The News] In a recent interview with the BBC, Paul McCartney revealed that AI was used to “extricate” and clean up the vocals of John Lennon from an old cassette recording.
The result?
A record that was meant to be released back in the 1970s will now be released by the end of 2023.
McCartney shared, “We were able to take John’s voice and get it pure through this AI, so that then we could mix the record as you would normally do. It gives you some sort of leeway.”
Looking forward… The debate over AI-generated music continues. But in this case, AI is giving the Beatles’ fans the opportunity to hear new music from a musical legend once again.
4/ Announced: Salesforce enterprise AI Cloud
[The News] Salesforce announced its all-in-one, enterprise-focused AI Cloud service.
In the announcement, it was revealed that the AI Cloud catalog will include the Einstein service, Slack, and Tableau.
The most affordable package starts at $360,000/year.
[Why this matters] "AI is reshaping our world and transforming business in ways we never imagined, and every company needs to become AI-first," said Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce.
So on the enterprise level, leveling up with AI is a no brainer. The next step to focus on?
Ensuring that data is secure and customer information stays private.
